How legacy donations help HMWT

Many people naturally associate legacies with death, but gifts to charity are all about life: a lasting gift commemorated through the diverse wildlife and wild spaces of our natural world

Hawkins Wood

By leaving a legacy donation to Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT) you will be helping us manage and protect our network of 44 nature reserves across the two counties. But not just that. You will be joining the growing number of generous supporters who share our vision to ensure the survival of native species and their habitats, and give people continued access to nature.

We are incredibly grateful to anyone who decides to remember our work in this way, and Joan Pearcy was one such supporter.

“Joan was a truly country person, loving all aspects of rural life, especially animals, birds, flowers and trees. She was very happy to ensure that Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust would take care of Hawkins Wood.”

Dennis Stevens, Joan Pearcy's cousin.

Local nature lover Joan Pearcy really cared about Hawkins Wood: 10 hectares of beautiful woodland near Therfield, Royston. Joan was concerned that it needed to be properly looked after so that future generations could access and enjoy it. She was not only kind enough to leave the wood to HMWT in her will, but her additional bequest also ensured we could continue to manage the habitat and safeguard the wildlife that Hawkins Wood is home to.
