As most people are aware, population growth, industry development and energy consumption are all on the increase. The causal effect on our natural resources has been a consequential depletion - which cannot continue for the long term. If everyone lived as we do in the UK, we would need resources amounting to eight times those found on Earth.
Thankfully, all is not lost. There is plenty we can all do to minimise our impact on the environment and help protect wildlife and wild places.
Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust has partnered with the Recycling Appeal with Redeem Plc. Through this, we aim to reduce office waste by reusing and recycling old mobile phones, PDAs, inkjet cartridges and printer toners. Since 1999, the appeal has raised over £4 million for charity, and with your help this figure is set to grow.
We are calling all individuals, schools and businesses to evaluate how you reduce and dispose of your household and office waste. Join our campaign to recycle where possible.
All items sent to Redeem Plc are repaired, reconditioned and sold on as an eco-friendly products, or where this is not possible broken down into component parts and recycled.
Whether you are an individual or business we need your support!
But recycling is not just about turning old products into new products - it is actually the last stage of a three step process: Reduce - Reuse - Recycle.
You may be surprised by how small changes to your daily routine could make significant changes to the amount of energy you use and waste you throw away. Ultimately, minimising CO2 production, cutting down on unnecessary energy usuages (therefore, saving you money on your energy bills), not to mention reducing the amount of waste going into landfill.
To show your support and make a difference to the environment, why not try a few of these simple suggestions for your home, work place, school, church or community hall...

If everyone makes one, or all, of these small changes to their daily liefstyles, it will have a very real and positive impact on our natural environment.
Think Globally, Act Locally.
