Our 2010 Welly Wearers
Special thanks to all those who took part in our campaign
So, who's been wearing their wellies... ?
The launch of this brand new campaign was a great success and we were pleased with the support we received from the local community. HMWT would like to give special thanks to all those who took part by wearing their wellies for wildlife.
We even had a go ourselves...
1st Park Street Guides
Girls from the unit in St Albans organised a sponsored Night Walk at Lemsford Springs Nature Reserve, complete with wellies and torches! They asked family and friends to sponsor them and raised a whopping £207.41 for the Trust. We are truly grateful for their dedicated support, for which they were awarded a special certificate of thanks.
2nd Bricket Wood Brownies
The Brownies showed their support to our campaign by taking part in our 'Design a Wildlife Welly' competition. They came up with a number of very colourful designs. The girls used bright crayons and felt pens to decorate their wellies, with many making very eye-catching patterns, and lovely drawings of local wildlife, one of which was picked as a winner. 16th Hitchin Cub Pack
The Cubs went on a Wildlife Walk around Purwell Ninesprings Nature Reserve in Hitchin with HMWT Volunteer Wardens Martin Ketcher and Andy Holtham. Inspired by their adventures, they had a great evening cutting and sticking for their 'Design a Wildlife Welly' entries. We were delighted by the standard of their designs, using natural materials like leaves, bark and seed pods, with one of the cubs being chosen as a winner.

Amy & Adam Ellis
The newly-weds held a fabulous welly-wanging competition at their Wedding last year, with much 'welly-tastic' fun had by all. These pictures are wonderful and show you really can Wear Your Wellies for Wildlife just about anywhere!
Greenfields Primary School
Pupils from the local school in Watford also took part in our children's 'Design a Wildlife Welly' competition, again choosing to decorate their wellies with colourful drawings inspired by nature, with trees, flowers and lots of wildlife. We hope the children enjoyed creating their designs as much as we enjoyed looking at them all.
