Hertford’s 2016 Mayor, Cllr Dr Linda Radford, has presented Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT) with a donation of £3,705.86.

Last year, Cllr Dr Linda Radford, made the Trust one of two charity beneficiaries for the forthcoming Mayoral year. A year later, the Trust, along with St John Ambulance, has received a cheque for the donation amount.

Cllr Dr Linda Radford said: “When I was chosen as Mayor 2016-2017, I decided that I wanted to support two local charities and selected Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust as one of them.

“I have been a member of the Trust for several years and, as a Health Walk Leader, often walk through Waterford Heath and Panshanger Park where I can see first-hand the care given to these beautiful open spaces. I know that the Trust care for many other sites throughout the district that we are so lucky to enjoy, and I have visited several of them. Our environment is precious in so many ways and I want to do whatever I can to help support it; this was just one small way to say thank you to Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.

Lesley Davies, Chief Executive of Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, said: “We are so very grateful to Cllr Linda Radford for choosing the Trust as one of last year’s Mayoral charities. The Trust receives no direct funds from the Government and our work is largely funded by passionate people, like Cllr Radford, who want to support local wildlife and to keep these reserves free to access for local people.”
