Wilder St Albans - Room for Roots Map

WSA Wilder Actions header

Trees are amazing.

In addition to storing carbon they can reduce air pollution, mitigate flooding and aid in soil retention. They are essential habitats and food sources for wildlife but they are also essential for us - giving us the air we need to breathe and improving our mental health and well-being. Through the Wilder St Albans project, St Albans City and District Council are inviting residents to put forward places they think have ‘room for roots’. If you think there is space to plant a stand-alone tree, an entire hedgerow, small copse or even a woodland, we want to know about it. We are looking for opportunities for tree planting but also spaces where trees could naturally regenerate.

All suggestions will be considered as part of St Albans City and District Council’s tree planting programme for November 2022 onwards. While some sites, particularly those that cover underground services and utilities may not be suitable, there are many spaces around our district with room for more roots!
