About the event

After the success of our second sponsored walk on Sunday 27th September, we are extending the challenge for you to do on a day of your choosing anytime in October.  The challenge is to walk along the waymarked 10-mile Chess Valley Walk, between Rickmansworth and Chesham.  Discover the beautiful River Chess, stroll through our stunning Frogmore Meadows Nature Reserve, explore lovely old villages and country pubs.

This outdoor walking experience is safe for families and small groups of friends to enjoy.  Walkers can depart any time they choose, in either direction.  Bring a picnic and enjoy it at our Frogmore Meadows Nature Reserve, located half-way along the route!

You can opt for a shorter walk by stopping off at either Chorleywood station (approx 5 miles from Rickmansworth) or Chalfont & Latimer station (approx 7 miles from Rickmansworth) making this Challenge walk suitable for all the family.  Return to the start by taking a short ride on the Metropolitan Line.  Chesham is the end of the line so trains are not busy and they run every half an hour.

As a thank you for fundraising for the Trust, each participant will be sent a branded reusable metal water bottle.

Additional Information

This is a self-guided walk.  Please follow the signs and keep to the footpaths at all times.  Participants will be responsible for their own well-being and are recommended to bring a first aid kit, plenty of water and refreshments.  There are pubs and cafes near the route but additional toilet provisions are not available.

Train journey is at the participant's cost (approx £1.60 per person).

Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust had to cancel events and fundraising activities throughout the year, including the widely popular Festival of Wildlife at Panshanger Park in July and the annual Apple Day at Tewin Orchard in October. Like many other charities, the Trust is expecting to suffer heavy losses of more than £250,000 in income this year.
There is no minimum sponsorship requirement but we would suggest a target of £50 per person.  Please raise as much as you can for the Trust!
