Waterford Heath Nature Reserve Charlotte Hussey
Volunteering Taster Session for 18-30s at Waterford Heath Nature Reserve
Waterford Heath,
Vicarage Lane, Waterford, Hertford, Hertfordshire , SG14 3LU
About the event
Get out into nature this autumn and join us for a volunteering work session for 18-30 year olds.
In this session, you'll be tree popping and helping with scrub removal using hand tools at our Waterford Heath Nature Reserve. A former sand and gravel quarry, this wonderfully varied reserve has a range of habitats. You'll be helping to control shrubs and trees encroaching on open areas. This work supports the rare Grizzled Skipper butterfly which favours the bare, open areas we are looking to create at Waterford Heath - one of only two locations in Herts where this species can be found.
A chance to get outside, meet others with an interest in nature and learn new skills while making a real difference for wildlife.
Appropriate clothing and suitable study footwear (closed toed, not made of canvas) are required. Tools will be provided.
