About the event
In 2024 citizen scientists across the Lea catchment took water samples to find out what is living in their rivers and environmental DNA (eDNA) was extracted from these samples by the Natural History Museum. Working together we are trying to understand how this emerging technique can be useful in biodiversity monitoring.
This talk will be by HMWT Rivers Officer Nicola Thompson, who has experienced several projects involving eDNA. She will explain what eDNA is, how the citizen scientists got involved and what we have found out so far as a result.
Aimed at adults but all ages welcome!
Please be aware this talk is being recorded.
