Our native Eel Angela Angela is critically endangered. We are working with partners including Thames21 and ZSL to help remove barriers to their passage into the top of the River Lea, but we need help to survey the barriers before we can do this. 

The role:  

• Collecting and filtering water samples from a lake to enable eDNA analysis for our native Eel Angela angela 

Role location:  
Lea Valley regional park. Free parking available at Turnford Brook Car Park (Cheshunt, Waltham Cross EN8 0XH)Or walking from Cheshunt train station (20 min walk through the park) to meet at North Met Pit Lake. 

Role responsibilities: 

• Adhere to the methodology to enable the best chance of finding Eel DNA
• Conduct yourself in a safe manor around the water environment and around the public. 

Skills and experience you will need: 

• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to work safely close to water
• Willingness to work as part of a team
• Willingness to work in accordance with all relevant Trust policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Data Protection.

• Reasonable travel expenses can be claimed with prior arrangement 

 Anticipated time commitment: 

• Half a day in August
