Whether you're discovering a new reserve or returning to an old favourite, we hope you enjoy your visit and leave feeling refreshed and inspired by nature.

A few simple things can make a big difference when you visit.

Please be considerate of other visitors by giving people plenty of space where you can, particularly in hides and other enclosed areas.
Ash dieback has affected some of our nature reserves, which means access may occasionally need to change or areas may close temporarily to keep everyone safe. Please check the reserve information page before you visit for the latest updates.
To help wildlife thrive, please follow any on-site signs, keep dogs under effective control and take all your rubbish home with you.
We also ask everyone to follow Natural England's Countryside Code – Respect, Protect and Enjoy.
For everyone's safety, please don't light fires or BBQs, and don't swim or use boats on our nature reserves.

Lemsford Springs

A fascinating array of habitats: shallow spring-fed lagoons, marsh, Willow woodland and meadow – fantastic for winter birdwatching.

Old Park Wood

Possibly the most varied piece of woodland in Middlesex, with fantastic wildflower displays in spring.

A spring fed wet grassland, reedbed and open water reserve attracting a wide variety of bird species and other wildlife.

Rye Meads

Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire

A large ancient flood meadow that attracts vast numbers of a wide variety of birds, as well as numerous other animals and plant life.

Springwell Reedbed

Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire

Springwell Reedbed is the largest reedbed in the London area. The wetland provides an important undisturbed refuge for wildlife in this built-up part of the Colne Valley.
